KAREN WEAVER- Gardena, California
Born in Chicago, Ill raised in Los Angeles, so I call Los Angeles, California home. I started attempting to Step late summer 2005 off and on more off then on. Then in 2006 I went one night to the 1st S4KD and I was fascinated with the style of the Steppers from all over the United States. It was there, that I knew I had to learn this Dance they called Steppin.
During this time (2006) I met Brian (Steppin B) Patterson and took a private from him, he taught me more in one hour then ................ I told Brian that I would travel to Chicago just to receive instructions from him. He told me that wouldn't be necessary, he was moving to LA, and that is my history. We're still making history together and yes, I learned to Step.
New steppers: find an instructor that you really like his/her performance, style on the dance floor. The ease of their teaching technique is so important. Stick with one instructor; a good instructor will advise you when you're ready to venture out to other styles, workshops and privates, be patience so you won't waste your money and time. Steppin is a great hobby, networking tool, stress reliever, exercise and you can even travel, it's a community, a family, believe me, you're never bored when you're a stepper. See ya on the dance floor.
